About the Event
Pistols At Dawn - Educational Shooting Experience
IF YOU ARE NOT 100% CERTAIN YOU CAN ATTEND, PLEASE SAVE SPACE FOR THOSE WHO CAN.
The purpose of the event is firearms experience and education. The goals of the day include:
Firearms Safety - How to safely operate and service various types of firearms
Range Etiquette - How to safely participate in the sport of shooting amongst other shooters in a controlled environment
Range Tour - A brief tour of the range and its amenities
Firearms Education - Explanations of firearms systems and components, marksmanship basics, calibers, costs of entry/ownership, firearms laws and common myths about the sport
The Rules:
- Event co-ordinator instructions must be followed at all times
- No handling of firearms or ammunition without direct event coordinator supervision
- Range rules are to be followed at all times
- There will be ZERO tolerance for horseplay or unsafe practices
- Have FUN!
By signing up for the event, you agree to remove all liability for travel and participation in the event from YEG Lifestyle Group, its event coordinators and the Canadian Historical Arms Society/Genessee Shooting Range. While the event will be as safe as possible and risks will be mitigated to the best of our abilities, use of firearms and the range environment comes with risk that is beyond our control.
Current designated meeting point is the parking lot across from RBC Bank in Windermere at 7am sharp, September 20th, 2024, which may change. We will consolidate into a car pool from there after a brief safety meeting. The range is 1 HOUR away from the city and has NO amenities beyond port-a-potties. Please bring appropriate full-length clothing, close-toe'd footwear and anything else you think you may need for 8 hours away without running water, power, shelter or other taken-for-granted services. Bottled water, basic safety glasses and ear plugs will be provided.
Only 2 participants may shoot at a time. Given the number of people attending, there WILL be delays between turns on the firing line. We will try to cycle people through as efficiently as possible, but the event is intended to be FUN and SAFE, not fast.
The event will include revolvers and semi-automatic handguns.
Calibers to be experienced:
.22LR
.22 WMR
5.7x28mm
9mm Luger
.45ACP
.45LC
